The Indy Review: Check This: Hamish Anderson – Morning Light

Australian singer-songwriter and guitar hero Hamish Anderson has gained comparisons to the likes of T-Rex and The Rolling Stones, and has earned himself a number of awards and radio played in both his home country and the United States since releasing his first album in 2016. Following a tour opening for Gary Clark Jr. in Australia last year, he found himself unable to tour the U.S. due to Covid, so began playing a series of livestream shows, with “Morning Light” become an acoustic favorite of the set.

He has now released an electric version of the song, and it’s a refreshing throwback to the heyday of swaggering, guitar-slinging rock and roll. With fuzzed out chords and an electrified bass riff pulsating throughout, Anderson spins hopeful lyrics (“When I see you in the morning light, I know things are going to be all right…Oh yeah, future looking bright”) and churns out a feel-good rock groove. Marc Bolan is certainly jamming to it wherever he is right now.
